Remake Policy

Remake policy for dental lab cases.

Review how remake requests are handled, what information is required, and which case issues may or may not qualify for remake support.

This policy covers

  • Remake review requirements
  • Case documentation needed
  • Non-qualifying remake situations
  • Adjustment and correction requests
Remake Review

Each remake request is reviewed by case.

Dental restorations are custom-made based on submitted digital files, prescriptions, materials, and case instructions. Remake eligibility depends on the source of the issue and the information provided for review.

1. Remake Request Overview

Remake requests are reviewed individually. The lab may evaluate submitted files, case instructions, photos, scans, returned restorations, and clinical notes before determining whether a remake, adjustment, or other resolution is appropriate.

2. Required Information

To review a remake request, please contact the lab with complete case details and supporting documentation.

  • Case ID or order reference
  • Restoration type and tooth number
  • Description of the issue
  • Photos, scans, or supporting clinical notes
  • Original restoration return when requested

3. Qualifying Remake Situations

A remake may be considered when the issue is related to lab production, manufacturing, material processing, or a verified discrepancy between approved case instructions and the completed restoration.

  • Production-related fit issue
  • Material or manufacturing defect
  • Incorrect production based on submitted instructions
  • Verified lab-side processing error

4. Non-Qualifying Remake Situations

Remakes may not qualify when the issue is caused by incomplete, inaccurate, or changed information after submission.

  • Incorrect or incomplete STL files
  • Changed shade, material, or restoration request after production
  • Incorrect prescription or missing case details
  • Clinical preparation or seating issues unrelated to lab production
  • Missing implant component information
  • Cases submitted with insufficient design or scan quality

5. Adjustment Requests

Some concerns may be better handled as adjustments instead of full remakes. The lab may recommend adjustment, refinish, repair, or additional review depending on the case issue.

6. Timeframe for Reporting Issues

Case concerns should be reported as soon as possible after receiving the restoration. Delayed reporting may make it harder to verify the issue and may affect remake eligibility.

7. Returned Restorations

In some cases, the original restoration may need to be returned before a remake decision can be completed. Returned cases help the lab evaluate fit, material, margin, shade, and production concerns.

8. Additional Fees

Additional charges may apply when remake requests result from changed instructions, incorrect submitted files, clinical changes, material changes, or information that was not provided before production began.

9. Final Review

Precedent Dental Systems reserves the right to determine remake eligibility after reviewing the available case information, documentation, production history, and submitted files.
